Arc de Triomf i(Barcelona)

Unlike the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, which honors military conquests, Barcelona’s was built strictly for peace, progress, and culture. It was the main entrance to the 1888 World's Fair. The stone curve of the arch displays the coat of arms of the City of Barcelona at its peak, flanked by the shields of the 49 other provinces that made up the Kingdom of Spain at the time it was built.
