Edificio Metropolis and Gran Via (Madrid)

One of the most iconic buildings in Madrid, the Edificio Metropolis is known for its its slate dome adorned with 24-karat gold leaf. It was commissioned by La Unión y el Fénix to house their headquarters in 1907 and construction finished in 1911. It was bought by Metropolis Seguros in 1972, from which the building took its name.
