Calle Alcala 151 (Madrid)

Description

Stretching over a remarkable length of more than ten kilometers, Calle Alcalá proudly holds the distinction of being Madrid's longest street and ranks as the third longest in all of Spain. Originally known as Calle de los Olivares, the street derived its name from the adjacent olive grove, which was removed on orders of Queen Isabella I of Castile. During much of the 19th century, Calle Alcalá earned the moniker "Bankers' Street" as it emerged as the financial hub not just for Madrid, but for the entire country.
