Music in the Harbor (Hamburg)

Description

To achieve perfect acoustic independence from the noisy harbor, the Grand Hall is built like a "hammock" inside the building. It is suspended by 362 giant steel spring assemblies that prevent external vibrations—like ship sirens or propellers—from disturbing the music. The unique curved glass panels of the facade are specially printed with basalt gray and reflective chrome dots to deflect birds and prevent collisions with the windows.
