Leaving Dalt Vila (Ibiza)

This gate, known as Portal de Ses Taules, was built in 1585 and the main gate in the fortifications around the old town (Dalt Vila). Its name comes from the Catalan word "taules" (wooden planks) used for the original drawbridge, which crossed a deep moat to protect the city from invading pirates and forces.
