The Grassmarket in Edinburgh was the site of public executions and is home to the legendary "Half-Hangit Maggie". After being hanged in 1724 for concealing a pregnancy, Margeret (Maggie) Dickson's body was being transported to Musselburgh when she woke up in her coffin. Since her sentence was executed and her survival deemed to be God's will, she was released and lived on for another 25 years,
