Warrior Saints of France (Paris)

The two warrior saints depicted in bronze equestrian statues above the main entrance of the Sacré-Cœur Basilica in Paris are King Saint Louis IX (left) - holding his sword blade-down as a sign of piety and justice - and Joan of Arc (right) - holding her sword blade-up as a sign of courage and inspiration.
